Our commitment to sustainability
At Skins, we view the journey towards sustainability as an inspiring adventure. We embrace every opportunity to learn and continuously strive for improvement. While achieving full sustainability is a significant challenge, we are dedicated to making a positive impact. We acknowledge our direct and indirect impact on the environment and society and take concrete steps to minimize it. Through visible and sometimes less visible actions, we aim to make a difference and contribute to a better world.

Transparency and honesty have always been important to us, and over the years, innovation and sustainability have become our guiding principles. We have been expressing these in a modest and gentle manner. To make greater strides forward, we have partnered with an organization that will support us in achieving our goals and our customers in making more informed choices, because every item bought has an impact on people and planet.

Our partnership with Provenance
With our growing portfolio, new boutique openings, and upcoming anti-greenwashing and sustainability legislation, we needed a robust solution to provide clarity for our customers amidst the vast array of sustainability and ethical claims. In Provenance, we found just that.

Who is Provenance?
Provenance is the global platform for validating sustainability claims. As a UK certified B Corp (benefit corporation), they are committed to transparency and protecting shoppers against greenwashing. Sustainability claims from affiliated brands are carefully reviewed and validated by their Integrity Team. Using specialized software, the evidence, known as Proof Points, is transparently presented on each product page.

These retailers already partnered up with Provenance, and more will follow: Cult Beauty, The Detox Market, MECCA, Naturisimo, Straal, Haveda, Beauty Heroes, Holland & Barrett UK & Ireland, Lookfantastic, Dermstore, The Natives Co.


How does it work?
In our E-boutique, you will find products with green sustainability badges. When you click on them, its corresponding Proof Points* appear. Proof Points are clickable interactive icons, such as ‘Vegan,’ ‘Cosmos Organic Ecocert,’ or ‘1% for the Planet.’ By clicking on them, a pop-up opens with an explanation of the claim and the associated evidence, making it easy for you to see if a product or brand aligns with your values. If you would like to shop for products with Proof Points, you can find them using the Impact filter in the E-boutique.

Do all Skins products have Proof Points?
Although we are just getting started, a good number of our brands are already partnering with Provenance, and more will join over time. Not all our brands are collaborating with this platform yet. However, products without Proof Points can still be sustainable and responsible; Proof Points simply provide verified evidence of impact claims. Our aim is to offer a growing range of products with Proof Points, making it easier for you to make informed choices.

What makes Provenance trustworthy?
Provenance recognizes that like any other business, they are not best placed to judge their own actions. So, to make sure they continue to act for people and planet as they grow, they have appointed their own Integrity Council: an independent body of field experts who keep them accountable to their mission. Their leading Framework* is continuously updated according to the latest ESG terminology and compliance standards, under the guidance of their Integrity Council. Provenance ensures that every sustainability claim made by a brand through their platform is supported by verifiable evidence.

*The Provenance Framework is a categorized index of over 125 Proof Points (social and environmental claims and certifications) divided across five impact areas: waste, nature, climate, workers, and communities.
