Find your foundation makeup at Skins
Using foundation is a common way to keep our skin looking even. Whether we have a weekday at work, are on holiday or have an important event, foundation is an essential part of our make-up routine. With foundation makeup, you apply a perfect base as a canvas for the rest of your make-up. At Skins, you'll find foundation from gorgeous brands like Laura Mercier, RMS Beauty and NARS.
The right foundation makeup for you
Visit a Skins boutique to get advice on the very best foundation to suit you. This will consider your skin tone, skin type and the needs you have. This way, you can change foundation makeup every season. In summer, you can go for a tinted moisturiser, and in winter you can benefit from a glowy foundation, for the effect of hydrated, dewy skin. Always test a foundation on the skin: that way, even seasonally, you can see exactly which formula blends with the skin. Always look carefully at the right undertone and go for a warm foundation for a yellower tone, or a cooler shade for redder skin.
What types of foundation are there?
There are different types of foundation available, each with their own unique features and benefits. A foundation can generally be divided into light-, medium- and full-coverage coverage. If you want a no makeup look, you can opt for a tinted moisturiser, or, for example, NARS' Sheer Glow Foundation. RMS Beauty's Un Cover-Up Cream Foundation is enriched with a nourishing blend of oils and herbs and gives an almost magical look.
If you want a little more coverage, Westman Atelier's Vital Skincare Complexion Drops are a wonderful option. You can also use the Drops beautifully in combination with the Vital Skin Foundation Stick, especially for oilier skin. This is because the Stick makes the light, liquid formula of the Drops more set.
For full coverage foundation, we recommend building up a medium coverage formula as desired. This gives a more natural effect. If you still like full coverage coverage, RMS Beauty's Re Evolve Foundation is a great option. The formula with emollient, firming and moisturising ingredients provides sufficient coverage, but with a healthy glow. Laura Mercier's Real Flawless Foundation also offers medium coverage with a satin, natural finish.
This is how you apply your foundation makeup
Once you have found the right foundation, you can apply it in different ways. Again, the result depends on your needs. For a natural look, you can apply foundation with your fingers. The warmth of the skin causes the formula to melt seamlessly into the skin. A foundation brush gives a little more coverage and blends a texture evenly. Or go for a complexion sponge that you wet before use. This way, you make sure you maintain a hydrated look - great for drier skin.
