Baie 19 by Le Labo is designed like a heavy rain after a long period of drought, and the joy that comes with it. The truth is. Baie 19 should have been called Water 19. Not that it smells like nothing-though nothing smells like it-but it has a fresh, wet, soggy effect that water gives to the earth after rain.
The magical feeling during heavy rain after a long dry spell (Petrichor), is one of nature's most beautiful olfactive phenomena. There are many reasons for this, including ozone in the air, negative ions, but especially the release of oil secretions from certain plants collected after a long dry period. This is what Baie 19 is all about: the dry juniper, the pathouli, the green leaves... all infused with a beautiful, luminous, magnetic rain after a long drought.
